Focusing On The Numbers:
Research shows that gyms present almost no risk of contracting COVID-19.

We’ve heard the news, and we’ve seen first-hand how the COVID-19 Pandemic has affected all of us in some form. There is no denying the toll that it has taken on our communities, families, economy, and on many of our lives. With a stay at home mandates, many retail locations closing, and in the fitness world – the closure of many studios – we are still figuring our way through each day. We are opening safely where we can, but with new policies and procedures in place to address the safety concerns of our members.

 

Fitness helps boost immune systems & helps fight off infection.

Based on a recent study published by IHRSA and MXM, fitness centers are in fact part of the solution for keeping people happy and healthy during this pandemic.

Over the course of the last 3 months, there has been little to no evidence that fitness studios are causing the further spread of COVID-19. 2,873 gym locations participated in a 3-month study to record their findings. Over the course of 3 months, there were 1,155 instances where an employee or gym member called into the facility and identified as having COVID-19 (there is no evidence to show that these cases are directly linked to the gym). In that same timeframe, 49.4 million people checked in to these same gyms, which boils down to only 2.3 positive cases, per 100,000 member visits.

 

On the contrary to many reports that are surfacing about the spread of COVID-19, we want to look at the positive mental and physical effects that fitness centers have on our overall health. According to a study done by Science Direct in 2019, looking at The Compelling link between physical activity and the body’s defense system, “acute exercise is viewed as an important immune system adjuvant to stimulate the ongoing exchange of leukocytes between the circulation and tissues” (A.B. Bigley, K. Rezvani, C.Chew, T.ekine, M. Pistillo, B. Crusian, et all) (2014). Exercise has been proven to increase immune strength, and a boosted immune system can reduce the length of infection. Fitness also has an incredible impact on our mental health, including reducing the risk of stress and depression (mayo clinic).

 

What we are doing to keep you safe.

At Eat The Frog fitness, we’re taking extreme measures to ensure the safety of our employees and members alike. Prior to attending sessions, members agree to COVID preventative behaviors. We require members to check-in wearing a mask, using a touchless check-in system to avoid contact between employees and members, which also allows us to know exactly who is in our studios at all times, making contact tracing as easy as it gets.

At Eat The Frog Fitness, our member’s well-being is at the forefront of everything we do. Our studios are practicing some of the highest safety standards in the industry as we operate in accordance with state-mandated social distancing guidelines. A few of the precautions we’re taking include:

  • Member Pledge Agreements (signed by members stating that if they feel ill, they will stay home)
  • mask policy adherence
  • check-in capacity management
  • temperature checks
  • equipment spacing and in many instances no equipment sharing with a single session.
  • hospital-grade disinfectants
  • housekeeping teams
  • touch-less entry and exit
  • increased cleaning and disinfecting protocols
  • tracking logs
  • temperature checks
  • and so much more.

*Each location varies on the precautions they are taking to maintain a clean and sanitized environment.
